What Is This
A reasonable question with an unreasonable answer.
THE SHORT VERSION
N3ON is a tabletop roleplaying game engine powered by AI. You create characters, the AI runs the world. Stories happen. Sometimes they make sense.
THE ACTUAL VERSION
We built a system where an AI can serve as a game master for tabletop RPGs. It remembers your character. It remembers the NPCs. It remembers that time you tried to seduce the door. It has opinions about that.
The AI doesn't just respond to your actions. It runs persistent worlds with NPCs that have their own goals, relationships, and deeply questionable life choices. When you're not playing, the world keeps moving. Or it might. We're still working out the timeline physics.
There are two game settings: Neon Ascension (cyberpunk reality-hacking) and Mythic Convergence (multiversal fantasy collapse). Both feature a meta-aware system that occasionally breaks the fourth wall to send you patch notes mid-combat.
WHO MADE THIS
A small team of people who should probably be doing something more responsible with their time. We've been building AI systems for a while. We also play too many tabletop RPGs. This is what happens when those interests collide.
(We are not responsible for any existential crises resulting from extended conversations with THE SYSTEM.)
WHY
Because finding a game master is hard. Because AI can remember everything. Because we wanted to see what happens when you let a language model run an entire world. Because we thought it would be funny.
